The Family

Spanish Town born and bred. St. Jago alumnus. Long time music connoisseur.

Gladstone “Bobby” Muir. Veteran record collector. Closely connected to the Grotto Swing Disco owned and operated by Leroy Niah Thwaites from way way back. Occasional selector at The Woodshop and other music scenes.

Mr. Dorian Gray, better known as “Nut”. Original member of Shangai disco/Jazz Hut outfit from Rose Lane, Kingston. A dedicated gadgeteer and early adopter of innovative technology. Best known source of music in Brooklyn.

Country born and bred, migrated to Kingston in the mid 60’s. My step father was a jazz fanatic and so had a great influence on my musical taste. At school they wanted me to do music but found the cost too prohibitive. Started buying some records during my school day as we had a sound system that we used to play in the gym on Saturday afternoons and when we had a party with Hampton from which some of my records were never seen by me again. After school visited the house parties and clubs. When migration came about I gave away my few records thinking I could find them here but was terribly disappointed.
